About Buzz Literacy
Meet Cheryl Williams
Buzz Literacy LLC was founded by Cheryl Williams to support children who struggle with reading and writing through personalized, research-informed instruction. The practice was created to provide thoughtful, structured literacy support for students who are not well served by traditional classroom approaches.

About Cheryl Williams.
Welcome. I’m Cheryl Williams, the founder of Buzz Literacy LLC. I’ve spent over 25 years working with children in elementary classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one settings. After years in elementary classrooms, I saw how many capable students were working hard but still not getting the instruction they needed. Buzz Literacy grew out of a desire to change that experience.
During my years in primary and elementary classrooms, I began to notice patterns. Many bright, motivated students were putting in tremendous effort but continued to struggle with literacy. Wanting to better understand why, I pursued additional training in structured literacy. That journey led me to the Orton-Gillingham approach, and it fundamentally changed how I understood reading instruction and what was possible for struggling learners.
I went on to complete Associate-level training through the Orton-Gillingham Academy, allowing me to provide explicit, structured, multisensory instruction for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. Today, my work focuses on one-on-one literacy instruction that is carefully tailored to each child’s needs, pace, and strengths. My goal is not only to build skills, but also to help children regain confidence and see themselves as capable learners.
I also work closely with families and educators, offering guidance and support beyond individual sessions. When adults understand how a child learns, they are better equipped to advocate, support progress, and reduce frustration at home and in school.
I hold a master’s degree in education and am a California credentialed teacher. Across my roles as a classroom teacher, instructional leader, tutor, and mentor, one belief has remained constant: effective literacy instruction must be grounded in research, delivered with patience, and guided by deep respect for the whole child.
At the heart of my work are three guiding values: dignity, equity, and connection. I’m honored to partner with families and support children as they build skills, confidence, and a stronger relationship with learning.
